From the Pagus Aurélianus of the roman period to the main town of the district, Rogliano history is full of very interesting stories. It owned to Empress Eugenie the opening of a road on December 1869, when she came back from the grand opening of the Suez Canal. This road is still called "Chemin de l'Imperatrice" (Empress' way), and goes to the center of the village. The first Roman remains are dating back to the 1st and 2nd century B.C. Then, the Genoese took the Cap Corse over. Today, you can still find ruins of fortified castles, towers, Churches, chapels and wonderful houses (Houses of the Americans or Pallazzi; tombs).

The older of the two castles is Castellacciu. It was built in 1250. The only things that remain from this medieval castle destroyed in 1554 by Genoa are the beautiful ruins of the fortifications built on a promontory overlooking the whole district of Rogliano. Donjons, water tanks and impressive surrounding walls, which are very characteristics from the Cap Corse castles, are sometimes restored, stay in ruins or simply disappear.
